Toronto, Ontario — On Jan. 16, Belron technicians from across Canada took to Montreal, Que. to compete for the title of Canada’s top Belron technician, with Charles Morin, winner of Ontario’s regional competition, claiming the crown and a spot at the international final in Barcelona.
Five other Belron technicians competed, but Charles—who was recently featured in Collision Repair after his successful win at the Ontario regional competition in October—was crowned Canada’s top Belron technician after achieving quality repairs, refits, a windshield replacement and an ADAS forward-facing digital camera calibration.
Dave Chester from Alberta claimed second place at the Jan. 16 national competition, while Michael Hallworth—also from Alberta—took third place.
Charles, who has worked for Belron Canada for 15 years in Ottawa, was particularly successful in the first windshield replacement challenge, following it up with great execution in the windshield repair challenge, further proving his skills and speed of execution.
Charles is now officially qualified for the international Best of Belron competition, to be held in Barcelona, Spain on June 3 and 4, 2020.
“This competition was exceptional,” said Charles. “I’m very proud to be going on to represent Canada in Barcelona. It’s been a real pleasure to take part in this event and I’m hoping to share everything I’ve learned back at home.”
Charles caught up with Collision Repair in October to share his strategy for the competition. Amid the hours of training, Charles also hired a personal coach to help him handle any stress that came his way during the training process.
“Hopefully, my performance in Barcelona will lead to 2020 Best of Belron title,” said Charles.
