Toronto, Ontario — Ford has recalled certain 2021 Ford Explorers and 2021 Lincoln Aviators due to a problem with side airbag weld studs, the automaker said in late August.
In the affected vehicles, the side airbag attachment weld studs could detach during the deployment of the side airbag, resulting in improper deployment. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with regulations around Side Impact Protection.
According to Ford, 98 of the recalled SUVs are in Canada. Recall letters were mailed to owners Sept. 7, said the automaker.
