Toronto, Ontario — May 15, 2019 — More and more OEMs in the U.S. are coming out with services that will ultimately change the game for the industry.
Ford Motor Company announced last month that it would be implementing a system into its late model vehicles that will refer drivers in the U.S. to a certified collision centre following an accident.
Now, Volvo Car USA has launched a service that will assist drivers in every step after an accident called the Volvo Car Accident Advisor. From taking photos of the damage to writing down notes about the accident and getting the information about the other cars involved. The whole process is at your fingertips.
After drivers contact Volvo customer care and confirm they are uninjured and do not need emergency services, a link can be immediately texted to their smartphone, which opens a web-based application that takes drivers through important steps following an accident.
Volvo Car Accident Advisor will prompt drivers to capture facts and photos of the accident scene, offer them the option to digitally notify their insurer and help them choose a collision shop. It will even arrange a tow truck for the driver to get there.
“We work hard with in-vehicle technology to eliminate or reduce the impact of crashes as much as possible,” said Scott Doering, vice president of Customer Care, Volvo Car USA. “In the event that an accident happens, we now have Volvo Car Accident Advisor that can walk Volvo Car owners through the entire process, from data gathering and insurance claim management all the way through collision repair. This program not only provides tremendous convenience but will also help to ensure the car is repaired to Volvo Car’s stringent safety standards.”
The service is automatically available for model year 2015.5 and newer Volvo Car vehicles via the in-car SOS communications system.
