San Diego, California – The collision repair industry now has its first XR (extended-reality) product made specifically with repairers in mind, thanks to Mitchell International.
The Mitchell Intelligent Vision headset, made in collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies Inc. and RealWear Inc., is designed to improve the speed, efficiency and accuracy of the collision repair workflow.
The headset operates based on verbal and visual cues that allow repairers to simply look at the part they wish to diagnose and the Intelligent Vision will recommend the most appropriate repair.
“XR is transforming industries across the globe,” said Brian Vogelsang, senior director of product management at Qualcomm. “With our Snapdragon technology paired with Mitchell’s expertise in automotive repair, we are excited to help transform the way collision repairers work—by helping them improve productivity, meet customer expectations and address the challenges of today’s complex automobiles with the new Mitchell Intelligent Vision solution.”
|The Mitchell Intelligent Vision was initially introduced as a proof-of-concept last year. At the time of the 2019 announcement, Collision Repair sat down with Jack Rozint, senior vice president of sales and service for Mitchell International, who said there was an increasing need for on-demand information delivery in the sector.
“The expulsion of information has led to the need for different platforms and architectures to allow for access to the information,” he said in the 2019 interview.
The Mitchell Intelligent Vision is set to be officially unveiled at Mitchell’s virtual mPower Conference, taking place this week from Tuesday, October 13 through Thursday, October 15.
The headset will be made available first in the U.S. with plans for release in Canada to come in the near future. The Mitchell Intelligent Vision is expected to be shipped to U.S. collision centres by the end of the year.
