VIDEO: Repair, not replace, and avoid mixing hard-to-match colours

A technician begins a repair on a Dodge Challenger bumper. A new video from Polyvance notes that repairing pieces with certain colours, instead of replacing them, can save frustration in the paint department.

Rainsville, Alabama — May 24, 2017 — A new video from Polyvance highlights how repairing a plastic piece, instead of replacing it, can save time and effort when the car gets to the paint department.

According to a note from company President Kurt Lammon accompanying the video, “A large section under the grill opening of this Dodge Challenger front bumper cover was broken in a collision. Notice that the bumper is bright yellow; an exceptionally difficult colour to match.”

Lammon also points out that it’s likely that the paint mixed wouldn’t match the rest of the car if the bumper were replaced.

“If we repair this bumper, however, we can blend the colour in the panel to avoid having to do so on the fenders and hood,” he notes.

You can check out the repair procedure in the video below.
