Toronto, Ontario — The Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) has announced that the Toyota Prius is the 2024 Canadian Car of the Year.
Toyota was granted this award at the Canadian International Auto Show at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre in Toronto, Ont.
Of the other awarded categories, the Toyota Grand Highlander was also named the 2024 Canadian Utility Vehicle of the Year.
This year’s new electric vehicle categories saw the Genesis Electrified G80 named the 2024 Canadian Electric Car of the Year, while the Genesis Electrified GV70 was named the 2024 Canadian Electric Utility Vehicle of the Year.
The 48 jurors that reviewed and determined this year’s awards are AJAC members spanning across Canada. All vehicles were driven in “real world” conditions to help decide results.
“Whether they take home the top trophy or not, the Canadian Car of the Year voting process makes sure that every one of these finalist vehicles is a standout in their class,” said AJAC president Evan Williams.
“The four winning vehicles will remain at the show for the public to view,” said Jason Campbell, general manager of the Canadian International Auto Show.
The 2024 Canadian International Auto Show is open to the public from February 16 to 25.
