Durham police crack down on illegal towing, charges laid in Orono, Ont.

Orono, Ontario – The Durham Region Police Service (DRPS) seized several vehicles from an Orono, Ont. towing company last Wednesday, Oct. 7.

Ultimate Towing of Orono, Ontario has been issued a number of charges relating to their illegal towing practices. The execution of a search warrant last Wednesday resulted in the seizure of three vehicles from the property.

Police were reportedly acting on numerous complaints from motorists alleging they had been charged exorbitant towing fees.

As a result of the incident, DRPS is reminding drivers in the area of Highway 115/35 to brush up on the details of their insurance coverage as reports of cars being illegally towed and withheld from their owners continue to rise.

  1. Towing, what comes to mind? bulling, over charging, holding hostages, broken promises, unethical drivers.
    I can’t believe this has been going on since the early 70’s and the powers to be can’t or won’t clean it up.
