Toronto, Ontario — Totaled Tesla Cybertrucks that have been written off by insurers are currently up for auction on IAA’s website.
As of the time of writing, the first Cybertruck listed on IAA’s auction site was reportedly involved in a significant front-end impact that resulted in airbag deployment. This version of Tesla’s electric pick-up truck is in Seattle, Washington and has just 3,932 miles or 6327 kilometres on the odometer.
The second totaled Cybertruck listed has been driven even less with just 26 miles (41 kilometres) on the odometer. The issue with the vehicle is that it was reportedly flooded.
In response to Cybertrucks beginning to enter the auction market, Electrek noted that due to its novel nature, there have been concerns about the repair costs of the Cybertruck.
Notably, Electrek said the truck’s windshield costs $1,900 to replace. An early owner was also quoted $2,800 to replace a Cybertruck’s rear quarter panel.
Moreover, due to its novelty and unique material design, some insurers have also refused to insure the Cybertruck outright.
