The free training program sponsored by the Anheuser-Busch Foundation is designed to help businesses build cultures of safety and cities achieve Vision Zero
NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–#focusonfleetsafety–Together for Safer Roads (TSR) through support from the Anheuser-Busch Foundation, today announced FOCUS on Fleet Safety in the City of Fort Collins, a free training program for area small-to-medium businesses (SMBs) with fleets of two to 100 vehicles.
The program is designed to support companies in building safe and efficient fleet operations through a combination of safety training, leadership development, and technology – helping to achieve Vision Zero goals in the cities TSR offers the trainings in. It is open to all forms of SMBs in Fort Collins, including for-profits, nonprofits, local businesses and community-based organizations. Registration is currently open for the 8-week program that will begin April 6.
Participating organizations will work with safety experts and have access to industry leaders to learn how to implement best practices and build cultures of safety within their organization. FOCUS on Fleet Safety will help Fort Collins create real and sustained changes that save lives on the road and create stronger communities.
“Fort Collins is proud of the multimodal culture we’ve built, and we are committed to fostering even more safe, environmentally-friendly and community-oriented ways of getting around,” said Fort Collins Mayor Jeni Arndt. “The commitment must include our entire business community, whose leadership by example can help our city become safer for everyone on our roads.”
The Anheuser-Busch Foundation has committed funding for the program, making it free for participating fleets. Anheuser-Busch, an industry leader in fleet safety, and its Foundation have a deep commitment to building safe, sustainable communities including in Fort Collins, which is home to employees at the Anheuser-Busch Fort Collins brewery.
“As an organization, we are committed to helping ‘create a future with more cheers’ by prioritizing the safety of the communities we call home,” said Colleen Lucas, vice president of corporate social responsibility at Anheuser-Busch. “Through the FOCUS program, we are proud to support our Fort Collins community in this initiative to protect those on our roads and to serve as a model for how private corporations can be leaders for public safety by working alongside leading non-profits like TSR and our local officials.”
TSR developed the FOCUS on Fleet Safety program in partnership with leaders in fleet safety, including many of the largest fleets on the road today — companies like Anheuser-Busch, PepsiCo, Republic Services and UPS. In addition to building safety cultures within their fleets, participants will develop professional skills they can use in almost any job: change management, human resources management and working with data. The program includes workshops, training, executive coaching and providing supporting materials for ongoing assistance.
TSR will include the City of Fort Collins’ nationally-recognized ‘Bicycle Friendly Driver’ training in the FOCUS program. This is especially important to support the thriving bicycling culture in the city. It will also serve as a model for future FOCUS trainings, as bicycling and other green and healthy modes of transport like walking and scooters become more common everywhere.
“Fort Collins’ recognition of fleet safety as imperative to supporting healthy streets and thriving communities will generate stronger workforces and better relationships with the community as a whole,” said Noah Budnick, executive director at TSR. “We are already receiving a tremendous response from Fort Collins for the FOCUS program, and look forward to helping people feel safe as they travel throughout the city.”
Organizations that have already joined the program include Colorado Iron & Metal, Colorado State University, Flexx Productions, the Food Bank for Larimer County, LoCo Food Distribution, UCHealth, Vindeket Foods and others. Space is limited to provide the best experience for participants. Interested organizations can register online here.
Past participants in FOCUS on Fleet Safety have lauded the program for its ability to uncover important insights from fleet driver perspectives and help leaders understand the important role they play within the strength of an organization’s safety culture.
