Spruce Grove, Alberta — A new piece of tech from PPG is rolling out across Canada as smoothly as its name would suggest, as Grove Collision becomes the first facility in Alberta to install the game-changing Moonwalk paint mixer.
Keith Robin, president and co-owner of Spruce Grove’s Grove Collision, told Collision Repair that the decision to invest in the Moonwalk seemed like an obvious way to boost efficiency around the shop.
“It eliminates waste, more than anything,” said Robin. “Our painters can apply their time better doing other things, rather than spending time mixing paint.”
PPG boasts that its innovative new paint mixing machine simultaneously eliminates waste and maximizes profit by preventing paint spillage and saving shops money on the unnecessary labour cost of mixing paint.
Robin says even the installation process with PPG was quick and seamless, much like the Moonwalk itself, and with little more than a level floor and a stable internet connection, just about any repair facility can accommodate the unit.
“It was really quick,” said Robin. “They were here for two days. We had a little bit of prep time ahead of time to make sure we had an internet connection close to the unit, and of course, a power supply.”
The Moonwalk is slowly but steadily making its rollout to collision repair shops around Canada, having recently made its British Columbia debut at Kirmac Collision South Vancouver last week.
