Vancouver, British Columbia — The punishment coming to him from the law is likely the least of one 17 year old Vancouverite’s worries after he was was pulled over doing 11km/h in a 50 zone—with his parent in the passenger seat.
In addition to the inevitable scoldings and lectures about life choices and integrity, the Class L (Learner) licensed driver is facing a seven day vehicle impound, as well as a $483 fine for excessive speeding.
In what has apparently become a trend in law enforcement, Sgt. Mark Christensen of the Vancouver Police Department Traffic Unit took to Twitter to further shame the child.
If you are supervising your 17 year old son, driving on a “L” driver’s licence, you shouldn’t allow him to do 111 kmh on Granville St (50 kmh)…and make sure there is a “L” on the vehicle! Supervisor‘s need to be accountable! @VancouverPD @ChiefPalmer @VPDTrafficUnit pic.twitter.com/skNIwYb435
