Toronto, Ontario — Uniparts Canada, in cooperation with Parts Plex Inc., has announced an exclusive supplier agreement with Auto Additive for the distribution of 3D printed headlight repair tabs in the Canadian market.
According to a recent press release, the Uniparts team will aim to bring the new sustainable technology to the Canadian collision industry by specifically aiming to showcase the potential of 3D printing technology for repair solutions.
The headlight repair tabs are made from OEM-compatible polypropylene material.
Moreover, in an official statement made by Auto Additive, the company states that “this 3D printed material and process that is in line with GM’s GMW18647 worldwide standards provides the durability and compatibility needed for high-quality automotive repairs, ensuring that the tabs meet or exceed current industry practices for repairing headlight tans, such as using two-part epoxy, industry-grade welding rods, shaping putty, or low-grade printed parts.”
Furthermore, John Donald, key account manager of Uniparts commented that “this is a very exciting time to be in the repair industry. With Auto Additive’s 3D-printed weld-on polypropylene tabs, you get the material and durability of the original parts without the need for complete replacements.
Finally, Mike Kaplaniak, president of Unipart’s OEM Canada Inc., concluded that “sustainability is the future. Thousands of parts fill our landfills every year. If we can provide a solution to repair more parts and source closer to their point of repair, we create a more sustainable ecosystem in the collision repair industry. Our goal is to help shops improve profitability and reduce consumer claim costs while keeping sustainability top of mind.”
