Bologna, Italy — September 5, 2017 — It’s been a busy few months for Symach’s Future Center. Located at the company’s headquarters in Bologna, Italy, the Future Centre has seen AkzoNobel, BASF and Sherwin-Williams use it as a research facility to test their products on Symach’s equipment. The facility first opened its doors earlier this year, in March 2017.
AkzoNobel was first on the scene, coming together with Symach to help host the Grand Opening. There was a Canadian connection to this event as well, as a number of AkzoNobel Sikkens customers from Canada were invited to experience Symach’s technology. The idea for that trip was initiated by Jenn Giocoli of Precision Autobody in Saskatoon after she and the Canadian AkzoNobel Process Centered Environment (PCE) group visited CSN-CARS Collision in Burlington, Ontario in 2016, and saw the facility’s Symach Fixline system in action.
In July, the Future Centre hosted the BASF paint engineering team, including Davy Roels and Rikke Demeyer from BASF Coatings Belgium and Kees Verdaasdonk from BASF’s headquarters in Munster, Germany, to test BASF’s Glasurit and R-M paint lines on Symach DryTronic system. The system received official BASF approval at that time, according to Raffaella Censi of Symach.
Sherwin-Williams was the most recent paint company to pay a visit to the Symach Future Center to test its products. Symach hosted Sherwin-Williams’ Michael Pellett, Drew Kirkland, Bill Quinones and Bill Papczun to test the company’s products on Symach’s DryTronic system. According to Symach, the DryTronic technology met all the standards required by Sherwin-Williams to optimize the use of its products on Symach’s equipment.
