COLUMBUS, Ohio–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Jim Sappington has been elected to the Board of Directors of State Automobile Mutual Insurance Company.
Sappington’s more than 30-year career with McDonald’s Corporation began in accounting before transitioning to information technology, where he served as senior director of international IT. He held several subsequent roles, including U.S. vice president and chief information officer as well as corporate vice president of global technology. Sappington was selected for McDonald’s Accelerated Operations Program, during which he moved to the frontlines of the McDonald’s business, eventually being named U.S. vice president and general manager for the northwest region. In this role, he was responsible for all aspects of the business including franchisee relationships, marketing, operations, profitability, real estate development, people development and business strategy for the northwest region. Sappington most recently served as executive vice president of global operations, digital and technology, where he was a member of the senior leadership team that led a significant cultural and business transformation. His responsibilities included global leadership of restaurant operations, technology and digital experience for McDonald’s Experience of the Future, which included mobile ordering and self-service kiosks. Sappington holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Missouri-Columbia and an MBA from DePaul University.
