Toronto, Ontario — I-CAR is offering support to bodyshops amid the COVID-19 pandemic by issuing credentialing renewal extensions for those pending upcoming renewal for Gold Class, Platinum or Welding certifications.
“Should you or your business have an upcoming renewal for Gold Class, Platinum or Welding and will be unable to complete successful renewal for any reason, please know that I-CAR has your back,” the organization said in an online statement. “Renewals will automatically be extended in 30-day increments until you are able to complete renewal requirements, or until we are past the current COVID-19 situation.”
I-CAR has also suspended all live and in-shop events until Apr. 5 as a precaution.
“Our teams will work to reschedule any cancelled events, along with adding new events, hopefully beginning as early as Apr. 6, or as the situation allows,” I-CAR wrote on Mar. 18.
The organization will continue to monitor the situation and update the policy as necessary going further.
I-CAR cancelled its annual conference for volunteers and instructors and will be addressing the rescheduling of the 2020 Conference awards in the coming days. On Mar. 19, I-CAR confirmed it would be “Reformatting the I-CAR 2020 Conference to digital delivery and open to the entire Inter-Industry.”
The educational organization has also launched a webpage dedicated to providing relevant information to businesses and technicians amid the pandemic. Click here for more.
