Toronto, Ontario — Just under 10,000 2012 and 2013 Hyundai Velosters have been given the safety timeout from Transport Canada, with reports of short circuiting parking sensors leading the federal safety regulator to issue a park outside order to curb fire risks.
Transport Canada first issued its recall notice on Feb. 28, calling on drivers of 2012 and 2013 Hyundai Velosters to check their rear bumper for melted plastic; a sign that the vehicle’s rear parking assist sensors have short circuited.
Additionally, drivers experiencing difficulty shifting out of park or accessing their instrument cluster are being asked to take their vehicle into a Hyundai dealer to have a fuse replaced, as well as any other defective sensors.
As of Wednesday, the recall affects 9,021 models currently registered in Canada and no crashes or injuries have been linked to the defect as of yet.
