Windsor, Ontario — A new website and worker registry tool is now online for the electric vehicle manufacturing sector in southwestern Ontario.
The website, EVCareers.ca, is funded by the federal government as part of a $7.7 million accelerator program to support long term growth in the EV industry and especially around the Windsor and Essex area in southwestern Ontario.
The main strategy of the website is a “talent attraction” specialist tool, a collaboration between Invest Windsor Essex, Workforce Windsor Essex, St. Clair College, the University of Windsor and WEtech Alliance.
The CEO of Workforce Windsor Essex says the website allows people to research a career, understand what training, education and upskilling programs are available, as well as what funding and resources are available and how to access them.
The portal also allows industry members to provide information to job seekers about trades opportunities such as career fairs and other career events.
The Minister of the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario, Filomena Tassi, says the goal of the website is about investing in people, their potential and in possibilities.
“We are bringing together technology, data workers and post-secondary to position Canada’s electric vehicle industry for success,” said Tassi.
