Edmonton, Alberta — April 27, 2018 — Skills Canada is set to host its Automotive Technology Summit on June 5 at the Edmonton Expo Centre.
The Skills Canada Automotive Technology Summit brings together leading vehicle manufacturers to share information on current and future-model vehicle construction and its impact on repair methodology, tooling and training.
The event provides an ideal setting for the collision repair industry, car dealers, educators, students and interested parties to meet with vehicle manufacturers and learn how the collision repair industry is rapidly changing in response to evolving vehicle design, construction methods and advanced materials, and technology integration.
According to Skills Canada representitives, It has never been more important for repairers to upgrade their facilities, invest in equipment and training, and ensure that every vehicle repaired meets vehicle manufacturer specifications, hence the summit. The vehicle manufacturer presentations will be followed by light refreshments and a tour of the Skills Canada National Competition.
The agenda for the day features talks from Gary Lin, specialist with the Certified Collision Repair Program for BMW Group Canada; Paul Stella, manager of collision repair and refinish, Toyota; Ted Lancaster, vice president & chief operating officer, Kia Canada and Scott Wideman, collision program manager, VW/Audi. The day is set to conclude with a panel of speakers discussing the significant impact of changing vehicle technology on all industry stakeholders. Panellists are David Adams, Gary Lin, Paul Stella, Scott Wideman and Ted Lancaster.
