Toronto, Ontario — A petition to the House of Commons on the issue of Right to Repair, put forth by the Automotive Industries Association of Canada, has officially received enough support to be tabled, but AIA Canada is calling on as many voices as possible to help amplify this important issue.
“Because of your support in helping us surpass our goal of 500 signatures, this petition will be tabled in the House, and the government will be required to issue a response,” said AIA Canada in a statement. “But the fight doesn’t stop here. The more voices we have, the better—so let’s keep those signatures coming!”
The petition asserts that eight of every ten Canadians agree that auto manufacturers should be required by law to share data with independent repairers or mechanics so they can fix their car.
Industry members have until Friday to sign the petition.
