Las Vegas, Nevada — Each year at SEMA, the National Auto Body Council (NABC) hosts its Recycled Rides luncheon, where professionals from every sector of the automotive industry gather to watch the NABC give back.
NABC presented six deserving Las Vegas, Nevada residents with refurbished vehicles, enabling them to care for their families, enjoy the accessibility the transportation and gain their much-desired independence.
NABC’s Recycled Rides recipients gathered with their families to see their new vehicles on the grandest of automotive stages. NABC chairman Darren Huggins welcomed the crowd.
“Every year this is the biggest event that we put on for all those in the industry who support the work of the National Auto Body Council,” he said. “I am so proud to be involved with this amazing program that has now given away more than 2,200 vehicles since its inception. Changing lives for these six families is what we’re all about, and it takes a collective effort of industry leaders to make it all happen.”
Four families, one couple and a single mother were gifted cars this year.
Chris Feliz, Amanda Holland and their four kids received a 2018 Chevy Malibu donated by Hertz and repaired by Red Rock Service King in Las Vegas. The family briefly found themselves homeless but regained their footing and are on the path to independence.
Cathy and John Fromoltz were gifted a 2017 Toyota Corolla that was donated by Geico and refurbished by Henderson Gerber Collision.
Jeremy Davis and Naomi Jenkins, parents of two, received a 2018 Ford Fusion from Enterprise and CARSTAR Collision Masters in Las Vegas to cruise the kids around in style.
Hardworking single mother Felicia Houston said transportation was the only gift she wanted this holiday season. She was gifted a 2017 Nissan Altima donated by StateFarm and refurbished by Gerber Collision.
Janata Gibson and her five children are on the road to independence with their new 2018 Honda Civic, donated by Progressive and refurbished by Gerber Collision.
“This is a miracle!” Janata screamed when she saw her recycled ride.
Ma’Lia Ashe-Wiggins was gifted a 2014 Toyota Corolla donated by AllState and refurbished by Grass Valley Service King. Ma’Lia is a mother to three little boys who fled domestic violence and has been dreaming of the gift of transportation.
NABC also honoured Margaret Keith for her work with the NABC F.R.E.E programs over the years.
NABC’s Recycled Rides is a program in which businesses from every facet of the collision repair industry team up to repair and donate vehicles to individuals and families in need of reliable transportation. Since the inception of the NABC Recycled Rides program in 2007, members of the National Auto Body Council have donated more than 2,200 vehicles valued at more than $36 million.
