Brigitte Pesant is Director, Collision Programs, for the Automotive Industries Association of Canada (AIA) and is responsible for organizing the CCIF events.
“We’ve got a great slate of presentations and discussion lined up for the first meeting of 2017,” says Pesant. “There’s a good mix of presenters looking at repair techniques and technology, such as scanning, and also speakers discussing human resource issues, such as recruitment and training.”
CCIF Toronto begins with registration and breakfast in Showcase Hall, followed by the welcome address and opening remarks, delivered by Pesant and Joe Carvalho of Economical Insurance and CCIF Chairman.
The first presentation of the day will delve into an issue that’s always top of mind for professional repairers: recruitment. Annabelle Cormack, President of Cormack Recruitment will speak on “Recruitment: Bumper to Bumper.”
Cormack has been in the recruiting business since 2004, filling vacancies at every level, from entry to management, including the executive suite. She has also partnered with small and medium sized businesses to provide advice and insight on marketing, human resources, sales and customer service and is an Instructor for Langara College’s Designformation Program, where Cormack designed and facilitates the program’s career planning segment.
Andrew King, Managing Partner for DesRosiers Automotive Consultants, follows Cormack and will deliver a report on the outlook for the auto industry.
The final two presentations of the morning session both focus on training. First up is Patrice Marcil, North-American Learning & Development Director for Axalta Coating Systems. Marcil will lead a panel discussion on “Collision Industry-Education Connection.” The panel discussion will be followed by “I-CAR New Vehicle Repair,” delivered by Andrew Shepherd, Senior Director at AIA Canada and Executive Director for I-CAR Canada.
Following the lunch break, Mike Anderson of Collision Advice will lead a panel discussion on pre- and post-repair vehicle scanning and calibration. Zack Spencer of Motormouth and Driving TV rounds out the list of presenters, discussing trends for the future of the automobile.
