Burlington, Ontario — July 29, 2016 — The final visitation and service for Sam Piercey took place today at Smith’s Funeral Home in Burlington, Ont. Piercey was the well-known and widely respected co-owner of Budds’ Collision Services in Oakville, Ont.
The service today was preceded by two visitations the day before, with numerous members of the collision repair industry and auto claims economy stopping by to pay their respects.
Sam Piercey Jr. delivered a eulogy for his departed father, reading aloud the memorial article recently published by Collision Repair magazine. We feel enormously honoured that our words were appreciated by the family.
Piercey passed away peacefully at Juravinski Hospital on Monday, July 25, 2016, at the age of 64. The devoted husband of Diane for 45 years and loving father of Joe (Kate Tapley) and Sam Jr., he was also the beloved grandfather to Joey, Jimmy, Taylor, Samantha and Gavin. He was predeceased by his parents Joe and Maisie (nee Fasullo) Piercey. He will be greatly missed by his family, including sisters Lorrie (Don), Debbie (Carlo) and Cathy (Bill), his father-in-law Oscar (Jacquie) Desrochers, his mother-in-law Irene Meehan, brother-in-law to Lisa, Richard (Martha), Ray (Tina) and Leona, and the Duval Family of Penetanguishene, his godparents Mary Ann and Joe Finelli and his aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Diane Piercey appreciates all the love and support her sons Joe and Sam have shown her and Sam throughout the years.
“We have two amazing sons whom we are very proud of,” she said.” Thank you both for being there for us. What would I do without you?”
We often talk about Sam Piercey’s accomplishments in the collision repair industry, and justifiably so. But he was also an amazing husband, father and grandfather who was passionate about everything he did. He loved to socialize, and lived life to the fullest.
There are plans for a Sam Piercey memorial fund, dedicated to youth in autobody. Donations to the fund would be sincerely appreciated by the family. More details will be available in coming weeks.
