Saskatoon, Saskatchewan — May 9, 2018 — Mid-April, SABA (Saskatoon Auto Body Association) held its annual tool box competition.
This year, the competition was fierce as the prizes were outstanding. As with all years, the SaskPolytech Saskatoon Pre-Employment students had 2.5 hours to repair and cold fill a predetermined dent in a mock panel. Judged by members from industry, the winner is not necessarily who finishes first but who has the best completion of the process to get there.
Among the prizes were a “Jet” tool box filled with tools, including a hammer dolly set from Martin tools. Along with the generous sponsorship of Darryl Tomyn at Sutherland Automotive and Tom Bissonnette representing SAAR, first prize was worth $2,300 and second prize, a multi drive socket set, $400.
Cindy Giesbrecht took first, with Matthew Genoway coming in at a very close second.
SABA offers a huge thank you to Murray Wiedermeyer (Novakoski Paint and Body), Gary Kotzer (Parr Autobody) and Rob Keet (Speedy Collision) for taking time out of their evening to act as judges.
