Toronto, Ontario — A report from Lending Tree using insurance quote data shows that across 30 car brands analyzed, Ram drivers had the highest accident rates in 2023.
According to the data analyzed, Ram drivers had 32.90 driving incidents—ranging from accidents, DUIs, speeding and citations—per 1,000 drivers from November 14, 2022 to November 14 of this year.
In second and third place came Tesla and Subaru drivers with 31.13 and 30.09 incidents respectively.
On the other end of the spectrum, Mercury drivers were the best for the year with only 15.82 incidents per 1,000 drivers. This was closely followed by Pontiac and Saturn drivers at rates of 16.24 and 16.84 respectively.
Looking more closely at the data provided, of the top three incident-prone brands, Ram featured the worst drivers in 23 states. Drivers were specifically the worst in Massachusetts at 64.44 incidents per 1,000 drivers.
Comparatively, Tesla drivers had the highest accident rates at 23.54 crashes per 1,000 drivers, and BMW drivers had the highest DUI-specific accidents at nearly double the next highest rate—3.13 DUIs per 1,000 drivers compared to 1.72 DUIs for Ram drivers.
