Toronto, Ontario — A male towing professional responding to a collision in Vaughan, Ontario, was struck by a passing vehicle on Wednesday.
York Regional Police arrived on the scene, and the victim was taken to hospital. Details of his condition are not yet known, but the injuries are believed to be severe.
Earlier in the month, York Regional Police reached out to the public for information on two tow trucks set on fire, part of a series of arson attacks on tow trucks in the GTA. This incident is not believed to have been related.
The York Region Police Department later announced that the day had been one the year’s worst day for accidents, with more than twice the normal number of roadside emergencies to respond to.
