Toronto, Ontario — The automotive industry has changed, and so will the vehicle showing up at your shop. Here are some of the best-selling cars this year, according to Timothy Cain at Driving.ca.
Hyundai Elantra: Previously Canada’s second best-selling car in 2016, the Elantra has clawed back its second-place spot. 5,869 purchases, an increase by 26 percent.
Mazda 3: Sales have been on the decline over a decade, however, a lack of options prompted a spike of 3,072 purchases, a 16 percent increase.
Kia Forte: Due to a shortage on SUVs and crossovers, the compact Forte is Kia’s best-selling vehicle at 2,997 purchases, or a 23 percent increase.
KIA Soul: The Soul’s resurgence comes from the lack of availability on Tullerides models, with 1,891 purchases – a 58 percent increase.
Hyundai Sonata: While sales are less than its 2011 debut, sales of the midsize sedan have climbed by 880 purchases, or 38 percent.
Chevrolet Malibu: 873 purchases, or an 11 percent increase. Chevrolet are still in business, but the low sales are indicative of General Motors’ partial withdrawal of production from North America.
