Refinish and Repair Represented: ‘Huge’ collision presence at 2024 Skills Canada National Competition

Quebec City, Quebec — The 2024 Skills Canada National Competition, the country’s largest skilled trades and technology event, officially begins today in Quebec City. For the next two days, this annual competition will showcase the talents of hundreds of young Canadians as they compete in over 40 skilled trade and technology categories.

“We have a huge presence from the collision industry,” Leanne Jefferies, manager of the Skills Canada Collision Repair Program, told Collision Repair magazine. “This is the most the industry has been represented.”

On Thursday and Friday, top students from across the country will put their expertise to the test in trades like carpentry, welding, automotive repair, culinary arts, and coding. The high-stakes competition tests the competitors’ technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and creativity as they race against the clock to complete complex projects.

Beyond the highly competitive main event, the Skills Canada National Competition also offers engaging Try-A-Trade activities, interactive demonstration zones, and networking opportunities for young people considering careers in the skilled trades. It’s an event that celebrates the importance of skilled labour and inspires the next generation of tradespeople.
