Toronto, Ontario – In a recent study from RatesDotCa reviewing the opinions of insurance policy holders in Canada, 82 percent of consumers report being satisfied with their insurance provider.
The study specifically aims to offer a comprehensive look at what matters most to policyholders by ranking insurers across several key performance categories such as affordability and claims experience, among other factors.
According to the study, the top auto insurance providers in the country include: CAA Insurance Company; Gore Mutual and Intact Insurance.
Igal Mayer, CEO of RatesDotCa, highlighted in the study that despite auto insurance premiums in Canada having risen more than 12 percent on average over the past year, overall satisfaction with auto insurance companies—at 82 percent—represents a two percent increase year-over-year in 2024.
Further, 76 percent of respondents reported that they believe their insurance company is a trustworthy brand.
Finally, when looking at technical data, while 94 percent of Canadians use online channels for personal use, and 82 percent of users conduct online banking, only three percent of respondents report using online apps to file a digital automotive insurance claim.
Comparatively, most respondents indicated preferring phone communications with their insurance company. However, additional generational breakdowns show that this preference is only highest among older cohorts, with younger cohorts opting for digital communications.
