Toronto, Ontario — February 5, 2018 — 40 Ontario high schools from will participate in an engine repair competition at the Canadian International AutoShow on February 15. The two-member teams from 20 different Ontario schools will be given two hours repair Volkswagen Tiguan engines with identical flaws built into them by Centennial College’s automotive tech instructors.
Shifting between five workstations, the young repairers will be forced to bring all of their analytical skills to bear in testing electrical, steering, suspension and brake systems. The top-ranked team will move on to compete at the National Automotive Technology Competition in New York, New York.
The secondary school students, all of whom are working towards careers in the automotive service technology, will compete for prizes donated by the Trillium Automobile Dealers Association (TADA) – prizes that include tools, textbooks and vehicles to work in their school workshops.This will be the 19th year Centennial College
