Montreal, Quebec — Art and auto enthusiasts, unite! A specially-painted 1989 Porsche 911 Carrera is going up for auction.
The car, designed by Montreal-born artist Jean-Pierre Lafrance and painted onto the car by autobody painter Yves Thibeault. Thibeault used airbrushes, hand brushes, spray paints, markers, finger-painting, and sanding to translate Jean-Pierre Lafrance’s directives onto the car itself.
The completed project is named “Masterpiece II,” and it features an abstract impressionist-inspired intermixture of bright colours against a white backdrop.
Underneath the striking paint job is a stock 1989 Porsche 911 powered by a 3.2-litre flat-six capable of 217 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque in its heydey. The odometer shows 114,000 miles and was acquired by its original owner in 2013, who has added less than 1,000 miles since.
The 911 is currently up for a cool US$72,000 on Bring a Trailer. It is being offered on dealer consignment in California with an Arizona title.
