Silkeborg, Denmark — After months of training and international travel, the WorldSkills car painting competition held in Silkeborg, Denmark is officially a wrap, as Canadian rising star Dorien Lozeau returns with a Medallion of Excellence for his performance.
The young painter based out of CSN Black Ace in St. Paul, Alta., and former Bodyworx Professional cover star, faced steep competition at this year’s event. While he didn’t quite crack the top three, he did Canada proud and came away with some hardware for his fifth place, 712 point finish.
The final podium saw a draw for the gold medal between South Korea’s Jongyun Kim and France’s Victor Berthelier, both of whom earned scores of 730, while Craig Kennedy from the United Kingdom cleaned up third place with a score of 725.
Lozeau was recognized alongside his fellow runners-up, Johannes Brandl from Germany and Isabella Turrise from Australia.
The ongoing WorldSkills Competition 2022 Special Edition is being run in lieu of the previously scheduled Shanghai competition, which was canceled due to COVID-19 lockdowns in China, and will conclude on Nov. 26.
The competition is set to host events in 15 countries across Europe, Asia and North America, featuring 1,000 competitors from more than 50 member nations.
The next automotive-related competition, automobile technology, is set to kick off in Dresden, Germany today, where Team Canada will be represented by mechanical technician Julien Héroux.
