Regina, Saskatchewan — January 8, 2015 — Now more than ever, a thorough understanding of new materials is necessary to perform safe repairs. According to Art Ewing of Pro Spot, that’s part of the reason Pro Spot and Color Compass have conducted a number of training seminars throughout Western Canada during 2015 and will continue to provide education to the industry in 2016.
The most recent training session was presented in conjunction with Saskatchewan Government Insurance (SGI). The seminar took place at the SGI Training and Technial Centre in Regina. On hand to conduct the seminar were Art Ewing, Sales and Marketing Director for Pro Spot International, and Russ Duncan, Color Compass Equipment Specialist.
“The seminar covered new materials in the collision repair industry with an emphasis on aluminum, new high strength steels and what equipment will be required to properly repair these materials,” says Ewing.
Two sessions were held. The first session included the technical staff from SGI and students from the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technology. This was an especially valuable opportunity for students to gain insight into the new materials now being used in vehicle manufacturing. Color Compass and Pro Spot supplied all of the equipment for the day and techs and staff had the opportunity use all of the equipment on hand, including the i5 Automatic Resistance Welder, the state-of-the-art Aluminum Repair Station, Pro Spot’s new PR 5 riveter and the Pro Spot SP 5 multi-purpose 3-in-1 Pulse MIG welder for aluminum MIG welding, MIG brazing and steel MIG welding.
The evening session was reserved for collision repair professionals. The seminar was well attended, with representatives from over 25 shops from Regina and outlying areas, with owners and technicians getting a chance to use all of the available equipment.
