Las Vegas, Nevada — On Tuesday, Nov. 5, the SEMA Show New Products Awards winners were named during the New Products Awards Breakfast, with the Society of Collision Repair Specialists (SCRS) claiming the title of “Best New Collision Repair and Refinish Product” for its blueprint optimization tool.
The SCRS’ Guide to Complete Repair Planning—Blueprint Optimization Tool, this year’s best new collision repair and refinish product, is said to provide collision repair facilities with an easy-to-use estimate analysis tool able to identify labour operations, line items and customizable charges that could potentially be overlooked on an estimate.
“The new product has taken the once-static PDF document and evolved it into an intelligent, dynamic and customizable estimate analysis and optimization tool,” SCRS wrote in a news release. “SCRS has identified the advantages it can provide as a training mechanism for businesses seeking to grow their estimating department and as a solution for the auditing of estimates for thoroughness both before repairs commence and before final billing. It can also be used as a safeguard to ensure everyone within the business is meeting the expected goals of capturing necessary repair operations that have a high degree of impact on estimate accuracy.”
Further, the software can help jog a technician’s memory with a full list of more than 1,000 operations potentially needed in collision repairs.
SCRS is hosting several product demonstrations at this week’s convention: visit booth 11173 in the North Hall at 10 a.m. or 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 6 or Friday, Nov. 8 to see the Guide to Repair Planning—Blueprint Organization Tool in action.
Judging criteria for the awards focused on product quality, craftsmanship, technical achievement, marketability and consumer appeal. More than 3,000 products were entered for consideration for 2019. Presented across 16 categories, the awards highlighted specialty equipment products either already on the market or soon to be introduced. Other categories included “Best-Engineered New Product”–which went to Modern Driveline for its ’94-’04 Mustang Hydraulic Clutch Master Cylinder Conversion Kit—and “Best New Wheel and Related Product”, which went to Topline Products for its VR16-Raid.
