Mississauga, Ontario — November 4, 2013 — PPG will introduce the Charley Hutton Ridler Color Collection at the 2013 SEMA show in Las Vegas, Nev. The collection is a spectrum of exclusive automotive colours created by Hutton, a three-time winner of the prestigious Ridler Award and one of the custom car world’s most respected and sought-after master painters.
The Charley Hutton Ridler Color Collection features colours from Hutton’s Ridler Award winners as well as unique formulations used on some of his other standout rides. Developed with PPG at Charley Hutton’s Color Studio in Nampa, Id., the collection covers 15 distinctive tones ranging from Madysen Gold and Checkered Red to Kalalau Lime and Indy Blue. Each is a special Hutton creation. The collection is intended to inspire other custom car builders and painters to unlock their imaginations and bring their designs to life.
“Being able to share the incredible colours we’ve dreamed up is very exciting,†said Hutton. “These PPG colours give custom builders and painters the chance to let their ideas become realities. I hope street rod, muscle car and custom car enthusiasts take a look at what we’ve put together. These colours are hot and some amazing things can be done with them.â€
The Ridler Award is presented annually at the Detroit Autorama and is regarded as one of the custom car world’s highest honours. Hutton won the Ridler in 2005, 2007 and most recently this year with “Checkered Past,†an awe-inspiring 1940 Ford coupe featuring a dazzling red PPG paint finish. Hutton has also received several Street Rod of the Year, Custom Rod of the Year and America’s Most Beautiful Roadster awards along with many other top prizes. Hutton established his painting creds early in his career with appearances on the Discovery Channel’s American Hot Rod, TLC’s Overhaulin’ and on Hot Rod TV.
