Toronto, Ontario — October 18, 2018 — PPG has finalized a deal to acquire U.S.-based SEM Products for an undisclosed sum.
“PPG’s acquisition of SEM will complement our current automotive refinish product offering and add specialized, value-added products that address the needs of distributors and body shops,” says PPG’s vice president, auto refinish Gary Danowski. “SEM has a history of strong returns and will provide our valued refinish customers with an excellent product portfolio to get collision jobs done faster by increasing efficiency and throughput.”
Specialized automotive refinish products, the South Carolina-based acquisition is a leading manufacturer of repair and refinish products used primarily for automotive and other transportation applications. Best known to the automotive repair community for Clear Coat, a flexible coating and mixing system, SEM’s 80 person team will officially join PPG when the deal officially closes later this quarter.
