Mississauga, Ontario — September 10, 2014 — PPG Automotive Refinish has launched P190-6930 Performance Clearcoat. The new 2.1 clearcoat is intended specifically for use with PPG’s waterborne AQUABASE Plus basecoat. PPG says it is designed for high-production collision centres and provides excellent throughput and impressive gloss retention.
P190-6930 features PPG’s resin technology engineered for waterborne basecoats, which the company says makes it an appropriate solution for shops seeking a low-VOC production clear. Used with Aquabase Plus basecoat, a vital part of PPG’s NEXA AUTOCOLOR refinish system, PPG says P190-6930 delivers the high-quality results and efficient cycle-time performance progressive collision centres require.
“The introduction of P190-6930 is a significant step in advancing PPG’s waterborne refinish systems,†says Deb Nucciarone, Product and Marketing Manager, PPG Canada. “This is an easy-to-use, extremely consistent clearcoat designed to match up with our Aquabase Plus basecoat. We’ve given it quick-dry characteristics with no compromise whatsoever in the finish.â€
PPG says P190-6930 enhances throughput with quick air-dry and bake cycle times—4 hours and 25 minutes respectively—that result in superior finish hardness. With four reducer options, the clearcoat adapts to a wide range of operating temperature and humidity conditions. In addition, it can be buffed in less than one hour after cooldown if required. The company says the result is excellent gloss retention and finish.
