Toronto, Ontario — Coronavirus has wreaked havoc on industry events scheduled for the coming weeks, prompting cancellations and postponed dates for conferences, trade shows and general meetings across the continent.
Check below for a full list of updated industry event cancellations, along with postponed dates:
Northeast Tradeshow
The Alliance of Automotive Service Providers of New Jersey (AASP/NJ) has decided to reschedule the NORTHEAST 2020 Automotive Services Show. The trade show will now take place from August 21 through August 23, at the Meadowlands Exposition Centre in Secaucus, N.J.—the same location it was originally planned for.
Automotive Recyclers Association of Ontario Convention and Trade Show
The convention was originally scheduled to run from March 26 through March 28, 2020, at the Hilton Mississauga/Meadowvale but, after the World Health Organization (WHO) declaring the virus a pandemic, the organization made the difficult decision to postpone the event to the fall of 2020. A rescheduled date has yet to be confirmed.
International Bodyshop Industry Symposium (IBIS) USA
As a result of the coronavirus, IBIS USA will now be held as a live, fully interactive online experience delivered to you on your Internet-enabled device of choice between 12 p.m. and 3 p.m. EST on Apr. 2.
AIA National Conference and General Meeting
The Automotive Industries Association (AIA) of Canada has made the decision to cancel its National Conference, originally to be held on April 28-29, at the Delta Hotels Toronto Airport & Conference Centre in Toronto, Ontario. The Association’s Annual General Meeting, scheduled to have taken place during the conference, will be moved online.
Details of the AGM’s digital format are still being prepared and will be announced once they are finalized.
ACE Niagara Falls
The Automotive Conference and Exposition was cancelled last week and has been rescheduled for Sept. 24-25, 2020.
Vancouver International Auto Show
The 100th Vancouver International Auto Show has been postponed due to the pandemic, but no future date has been announced.
Ottawa Auto Show
Promoters have cancelled the Ottawa-Gatineau International Auto Show indefinitely amid the outbreak. The show had been scheduled to run March 19-22 in the downtown Shaw Centre.
Automakers have also cancelled a series of product reveals planned for outside of the postponed New York International Auto Show, which has been postponed. Hyundai’s planned reveal of the 2021 Elantra sedan and Cadillac’s planned reveal of its Lyriq electric sport utility vehicle (SUV) are both to be rescheduled.
Automakers which had planned reveals at the New York auto show are looking at alternative plans for those events, with most presumed to be virtual ones.
Collision Repair will continue to update this page in the event of more cancellations.
