Toronto, Ontario – August 1, 2018 — Porsche is testing out a new live video technology that allows customers to view inventory without physically being there.
The company is hoping that the project, known as Go Instore, will breakthrough as a new innovative way of online car shopping. Porsche first started testing the technology in Canada at their Oakville, Ont. location.
The idea works by live video connecting interested buyers with sales associates at the dealership. Sales staff, using headsets provide live tours of the showroom via their smartphone. Customers can request for staff to view specific vehicles, or ask dealership employees any questions they might have.
“It’s the difference between sitting at your desk and taking a phone call versus approaching a customer who is walking into the showroom and wants more information to potentially purchase a car,” said Francesco Policaro, Porsche Oakville Dealer, who is also CEO of Policaro Automotive Family.
With the project still in its pilot stage, much work is still needed to be done before the service see’s widespread use. As of now Porsches’ Go Instore is just another reminder of the technoligcal advancement happening in the market.
“It’s kind of pushing the boundaries of where this industry is headed,” said Policaro.
