Vancouver, British Columbia — A recent wave of British Columbians taking the ICBC road test are gumming up the works, according to a licensing official, who says that nearly half of this influx of drivers wind up failing the test, leading to service delays for others.
The provincial insurance company reported Monday that it has seen a record 24 percent increase in road tests conducted over the past month, but that nearly half of them result in a failing grade, requiring another appointment and putting “further strain on road test availability,” according to ICBC’s press release.
Driver licensing office manager for ICBC, Jerry Boal released a set of five tips to help those about to take part in the road test pass on the first try.
The crown insurer says it has conducted 33 percent more road tests over the past 12 months than it did over the same period in 2018 and 2019, with 35,500 of those tests taking place this past May alone.
