Toronto, Ontario — September 12 2019 — A heroic sprinkler system played a significant role in limiting the damage of a fire that spread through a Woodstock, Ontario collision repair facility.
On Tuesday morning, the Woodstock fire department received an early-morning call that the small auto body facility located just behind Woodstock’s famous antique mall had caught on fire.
When the department arrived, a 2006 Chevrolet pickup truck was smouldering in the shop. Total damages are estimated to be just $55,000.
According to the Woodstock Fire Department, it was the facilities overhead sprinkler system that prevented any further damage and contained the fire within the shop.
“[The facility’s] sprinkler system-aided fire suppression activities during this morning’s fire at 97 Wilson Street,” reported the fire department. “As a result, the main building occupant “One of a Kind Antique Mall” was unaffected by the fire.”
