Rainsville, Alabama — Polyvance has gotten some official recognition for its advancements in plastic repair education as the company’s PR-05 Texture Refinishing course was recently given I-CAR continuing education credit approval.
The company said in it’s press release that the aim behind the course was to address a gap in plastic repair skills in the collision repair industry and prevent shops from discarding plastic parts that could be repaired with the right training.
The course is hands-on and features two-hour sessions with an instructor, groups of no more than six technicians at a time.
Polyvance listed the following as course objectives: identifying if a part can be retextured, understanding the variables in the texture application process, understanding the proper preparation for texture paint on a raw polypropylene substrate, understanding how to vary the size of the texture grain using product reduction and spray technique, and demonstrating the proper use of the spray gun to apply texture paint.
