Ontario government looks at lowering auto insurance

By CRM staff

Toronto, Ontario – January 11, 2019 – Ontario stands as the second-most expensive province for auto insurance in the country, but that could soon change.

The Ontario government launched a review of the province’s auto insurance system Wednesday, in hopes of lowering the rates of drivers paying the most expensive premiums.

The review will examine ways to make improvements and introduce more competition. The PC government will be turning their efforts towards consulting with drivers, insurers and other stakeholders until the middle of February.

Aviva has also commented on the news stating that they are committed to working with the government on this project.

“The single most important change we can make to benefit drivers in 2019 is regulatory reform that allows consumers more choice about the product they buy and more options to help them save money on premiums. Consumers deserve to have more choice, innovative products, in a system that is free from fraud and abuse,” said Aviva in a press release.
