Toronto, Ontario — Attention auto refinishers, Nissan North America has released an updated position statement concerning the refinishing procedures for the Nissan Ariya, including a comprehensive list of do’s and don’ts for repainting the popular electric crossover’s bumper.
Nissan is reminding technicians to take special care when refinishing near areas with “damage in the side radar zones of the bumper,” as factors like excessive paint thickness can cause the Ariya’s advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) to malfunction.
Specifically, Nissan says it does not condone the use of any putties or fillers in its bumpers with side radar zones, and that repairs in those areas calls for a bumper replacement with a Genuine Nissan Part.
As well, metallic, non-metallic and pearl paints are each only permitted to be applied to a bumper side radar zone once, while “taking care to avoid excessive paint thickness,” according to Nissan’s position statement.
Nissan paired its updated position statement with a chart that indicates which individual aftermarket paint lines are approved to refinish specific Ariya colour shades.
