Rainsville, Alabama — December 20, 2017 — Polyvance has introduced its new PR-03 Headlight Tab Repair online training course, designed to teach technicians and estimators how to repair broken headlight tabs with the company’s nitrogen plastic welder, instead of replacing them.
“The PR-03 Headlight Repair Course is also approved by I-CAR Canada for their Industry Training Alliance program, allowing technicians and estimators in Canada to gain valuable job-specific knowledge and add one hour of continuing education credits,” Kurt Lammon, President of Polyvance, told Collision Repair magazine.
The course, which is available in Canada, is an interactive video-based training program that takes roughly one hour to complete. It teaches technicians how to evaluate whether a damaged headlight is repairable; identify the type of plastic from which a headlight housing is made; how to fusion-weld broken headlight tabs with the Polyvance nitrogen plastic welder; and how to finish a repaired headlight to original appearance. The course is broken up into small segments, and can be stopped and started whenever necessary.
Polyvance hopes this new course will help bodyshops repair these parts instead of replacing them. The company claims that shops performing plastic repairs can “reduce their cycle time, reduce their average cost to repair, and make increased profits by keeping the labour dollars in the shop.”
The course is approved as part of I-CAR’s Industry Training Alliance and is redeemable for one I-CAR credit hour.
