Mississauga, Ontario — Kia Canada reported a record sales month in June, but now the automaker also says it saw its best-ever July with 8,300 units sold, representing a 3.7 percent increase year over year.
Despite market declines, all regions in Canada have reported increased sales in July 2020. The market decline began with a 75 percent drop year over year in April, a 44 percent drop in May and a 15 percent drop in June, leading into a 4.9 per cent drop for July 2020 from July 2019.
Kia’s record month in June was also its best-ever month in its Canadian history. The automaker reported 8,647 units sold in June. Sorento led July sales with 1,708 units sold, followed by Forte with 1,648 units and Seltos with 1,349 units.
Kia Canada released a promotion earlier in July called ‘Return of the Road Trip Event,’. This involved Kia paying the first six months’ of payment on finance and the first 3 months’ payment on leases on some of the brand’s models. This successful promotion will continue throughout August.
Hyundai Canada, Mazda, Volvo and Subaru Canada also saw a rise in sales in July 2020 compared to July 2019. Many expect this uptick in sales is due to the backed-up demand from the COVID-19 shut down making it back to showroom floors.
