News Briefing Call Regarding West Coast Clean Transit Corridor Initiative Study Results

WHAT:

Electric utilities from California, Oregon and Washington will host a media briefing to announce the results of a study providing a road map for electric utilities to help curb harmful emissions and electrify medium- and heavy-duty truck traffic up and down the I-5 corridor along the West Coast from the Mexican to Canadian borders. The study comes at a time when major investment in electric vehicle charging infrastructure can be a catalyst to help with economic recovery from COVID-19, while also supporting vital air quality and climate benefits to all communities in the three states.

Wed., June 17, 10 a.m. PT

 

WHO:

A panel of leaders representing the three states, including:

 

  • Katie Sloan, director of eMobility and Building Electrification, Southern California Edison
  • Bill Boyce, manager of Electric Transportation, Sacramento Municipal Utility District
  • Eva DeCesaro, senior product manager, Transportation Electrification, Pacific Power
  • Will Einstein, director of New Product Development, Puget Sound Energy

Also on the call for questions and answers will be representatives of the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, Northern California Power Agency, Pacific Gas and Electric, Portland General Electric, Seattle City Light, San Diego Gas & Electric and Southern California Public Power Authority.

BACKGROUND:

The West Coast Clean Transit Corridor Initiative is a study exploring the possibility of electric vehicle charging for freight haulers and delivery trucks along Interstate 5 and adjoining highways. The study was commissioned by nine electric utilities and two agencies representing more than two dozen municipal utilities.
