Toronto, Ontario — April 15, 2019 — Mazda is recalling more than 51,000 Mazda 3 compact cars in Canada because of an issue with the windshield wipers.
In total, the OEM is recalling more than 200,000 Mazda 3 compact vehicles in North America. The recall covers vehicle models from 2016 to 2018.
Mazda found that the problem was due to the metal deposits that can cause a wiper relay to stick which can ultimately knock out the wipers and become a safety hazard for drivers on the road.
There are no reported crashes or injuries as of right now.
Transport Canada says owners can take their vehicle to a dealer to have the front body control module replaced.
