Toronto, Ontario – March 12, 2019 – David Klan has been named the new president and CEO of Mazda Canada.
Klan will succeed Masaharu Kondo, who has been promoted to general manager of Global Sales and Marketing Division at Mazda Motor Corporation in Japan.
Klan will assume responsibility for Mazda’s business operations in Canada effective April 1, 2019, and will report to Masahiro Moro, Mazda Motor Corporation senior managing executive officer.
“I’m honoured to assume the role of president of Mazda Canada and serve our great team of employees and dealer partners,” said Klan. “Mazda is entering an exciting period as we launch our new generation of vehicles, and the North American market will play a pivotal role in Mazda’s global strategic plans. I look forward to leading Canada’s charge during this important time.”
Klan has held numerous positions across the globe since beginning his career with the manufacturer 27-years ago, including director of Marketing for Mazda Canada; general manager of Global Brand Marketing at Mazda Motor Corporation in Japan; and director of Marketing and regional general manager at Mazda North American Operations in the United States.
Since returning to Canada in 2009, Klan has led the company’s national sales, marketing, and regional operations as senior director. He will be the first Canadian since 2006 to be appointed as president of Mazda Canada.
Klan’s education includes a Master of Business Administration degree from York University’s Schulich School of Business, and a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Business Management from Stetson University.
