Manufacturer Meetings: Ford develops in-car voice feedback system to allow drivers to file service tickets directly with the manufacturer

Toronto, Ontario – Ford has filed a patent application for an electronic system that will listen to consumer feedback and pass it on to the vehicle manufacturers as a service ticket.

Specifically, as noted in the patent application—which was originally filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and published on January 2, 2025—the system would consist of an electronic storage system designed to maintain customer feedback.

This system would then be connected to a cloud server configured to “receive customer feedback from a vehicle, including voice data and vehicle data.”

The patent application further notes that because there are limitations to current methods of obtaining customer feedback, direct vehicle-to-manufacturer systems could help bridge this gap.

While there is no guarantee that this system will ever make it to the manufacturing stage, Ford concludes that because, on average, only six percent of customer surveys are returned, there are often issues in the automotive industry with reaching enough samples to have statistically relevant data.
