Winnipeg, Manitoba — October 26, 2017 — Manitoba Public Insurance’s (MPI) new centre for automotive research and training has been officially certified by Certified Collision Care. The certification means the new facility meets the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) certification criteria for Fiat Chrysler Canada, Ford Motor Company of Canada and Nissan Canada.
“This certification ensures proper and safe repair is being conducted to manufacturer’s specifications within our new facility,” said Ward Keith, Vice-President of Business Development and Communications and CAO of Manitoba Public Insurance. “Certification of our new physical damage and research centre validates our commitment to Manitoba’s collision repair industry.”
MPI’s new “state-of-the-art” facility opened at the J.W. Zacharias Physical Damage Research Centre opened in Winnipeg, Manitoba. It will help its staff keep pace with the rapid changes in the design, construction, technology and repair of motor vehicles, as well as enable qualified technicians to work in collaboration with Manitoba’s repair industry and Red River College.
“The certification criteria is based upon auto manufacturer requirements. These are critical to ensure the vehicle fit, finish, durability, value and safety following a collision,” said Leanne Jefferies, Vice-President of Canadian Operations for Assured Performance, which runs the Certified Collision Care certification. “As new model vehicles are being introduced that use light-weight, high-strength materials and advanced technology, a proper repair according to manufacturer specification is even more important than ever to ensure the passenger safety and proper performance of the vehicle.”
